Project Overview

I explored how Generative AI can help people learn and create without stealing attention. I focused on tools that support deeper thinking in education and creativity.

Concepts

I landed on ideas that make AI a guide for independent learning and real creative work . I focused on designs that give users control and better well-being .

Individual Phase

I took full ownership from this point, driving design decisions and prototype development.

Ideation

I chose a holographic mentor that sits on a design student's desk and gives short, Socratic feedback on projects.

Design Challenges & Flaws

During the concept development phase, we identified several critical pain points that needed to be addressed.

Holographic Justification & Value

What specific design task can the student perform with the hologram that they cannot do better, or more easily, with a traditional 2D screen? The 3D/spatial display must demonstrably justify its existence.

Interaction Modalities

How will the student interact with the hologram and the 3D workspace? The design must be intuitive, enabling viewing from every angle without requiring a fixed perspective.

Hardware & Accessibility

Does the system require a separate, dedicated piece of hardware? For collaborative use, the design must clearly define what additional devices students will need to effectively use the shared, spatial workspace.

Collaborative Experience

How is the design optimized for collaborating with other students in 3D? The shared workspace must enable seamless co-creation and discussion with equal access and interaction means for all participants.

Understanding the user

I wanted to understand how design students currently approach their projects, what tools they use, and the challenges they face.

Student Workflows

I looked at a variety of research techniques to understand student workflows and design processes.
